News Release

Injury Crash on US 60 in Carter County

Date of News Release: 12/14/2006

(Ashland, KY) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating a single vehicle collision that occurred on US 60 early this morning. Melissa Duke was traveling westbound on US 60 when her vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Duke overcorrected her vehicle and cross left of center onto the eastbound shoulder of US 60 striking a telephone pole. Multiple agencies responded and both Duke and her passenger (Griffith) were extricated from the vehicle. US60 was closed for approximately 2 hours in order for Windstream to repair the pole. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported by helicopter to St Mary's Medical Center for multiple injuries suffered during the collision. Seatbelts were not in use by either occupant.
