News Release

Collision Investigation in Lawrence County

Date of News Release: 10/25/2006

(Ashland) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating a injury collision between a 2006 Weston Star Coal truck and a CSX Train early this morning in Lwarence County , Ky. Jeffery Marcum was attempting to pull out of the Coal Dock access Road onto US 23 in an attempt to travel southbound. The truck was hauling an empty flatbed trailer and was stopped awaiting to turn onto the highway. The trailer bed was partially on the train tracks when it was struck by two CSX engines that were travelling southbound. The driver of the train, Michael Saul age 49 of Ironton, Ohio, suffered minor injuries and left the scene afterwards for treatment. The driver of Unit 1 was not injured and alcohol is not suspected in the collision. Seatbelts were in use by unit1.

The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Phillip Claxon.
