News Release

Drug Seizure and Arrest in Boyd County

Date of News Release: 09/26/2006

(Ashland, KY) - On 09/25/2006 at 10:37 PM the Kentucky State Police in Ashland received a call of an unidentified male at the Cannonsburg BP Gas Station who appeared to be under the influence.

Tpr. Aaron Martin responded and located George R. Connor (30 yoa of Ashland, KY) walking out of the Gas Station. After speaking with Mr. Connor, Tpr. Martin arrested him for Public Intoxication. A search incident to arrest revealed that Mr. Connor had a large amount of pills in his pocket (oxycontin & xanax). Further investigation revealed that Mr. Connor was traveling as a passenger in a 2000 black 4-door Oldsmobile, which was sitting at the Gas Pumps. Tpr. Martin obtained consent to search from the Owner of the vehicle and requested assistance of a K-9 Officer. Boyd County Sheriffs Deputy Robbie Donta arrived and with the use of his K-9 the vehicle was searched. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle and several additional pills were located along with $4999.00 dollars in cash.

Tpr. Martin transported George R. Connor to the Boyd County Detention Facility were he was lodged on the following Charges: Trafficking 1st Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Public Intoxication. Tpr. Brad Simmons and Tpr. Jim Ryland also of the KSP Post 14 Ashland assisted with the investigation.
