(Post 12-Frankfort) reports one fatality in our seven counties within the Post 12 area during the July 4th 2006 holiday. The one fatality occurred in Fayette County and involved a single motor vehicle. The victim was not wearing a seat belt and the Lexington Fayette Urban County Division of Police investigated the collision.
Preliminary statistics* statewide indicate that fourteen people died as a result of fourteen separate crashes on Kentucky's roadways during the 2006 July 4th holiday period.
Troopers working counties in the Post 12 area issued the following citations:

Kentucky State Police Post 12-Frankfort, provides police coverage for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer and Woodford County.
The Kentucky State Police encourage the public to report impaired drivers by calling 1-502-227-2221 or 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state).
*These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
