Fugitive Arrest in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY) - On Monday, October 23, 2006, at 3:15 AM Kentucky State Police Sergeant Steve Walker attempted to stop a 1987 GMC Jimmy SUV on Lily School Road in southern Laurel County. The driver refused to stop, accelerated for a short distance and turned into the Dollar General Store parking lot on South US 25 where the driver exited the vehicle and ran on foot. The driver was located hiding in a field a short distance away and was identified as Todd L. Day, 38, of Keavy, KY. Day was wanted on a Probation Violation from April of 2006 and received several new charges connected with this incident. Charges include DUI 2ND Offense, Operating on a Suspended Operators License, Improper Registration Plate, Fleeing or Evading Police 2ND Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and other traffic related charges. Day was arrested and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. Sergeant Walker was assisted by KSP Troopers Don Sivils and Mark Ridener and Laurel County Sheriff Deputies Tommy Johnston and Mike Hamblin. Sergeant Walker continues the investigation.
