KSP Investigates a Shooting at Grape Creek of Magoffin County, KY

(Pikeville, KY) - On January, 25 2005 at approximately 8:05 PM the Magoffin County 911 Dispatch Center received a call of a male subject that had been shot on Grape Creek of Magoffin County. The perpetrator was still at the residence. Magoffin County Sheriff Bob Jordan and Trooper Ben Cramer responded to the scene.
Upon their arrival they found a victim, Jesse Jackson, had been shot. Jackson was transported by EMS to the Life Net Medical Helicopter. Life Net then transported the victim to the Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia.
The suspect, Earl Perkins, had fled the scene on foot but was later located and apprehended without incident. Perkins, 54 years of age, was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center and charged with Assault 1st. The incident is still under investigation by Kentucky State Police Detective Mike Goble.
