Human Remains Found in Madison County

Date of News Release: 09/12/2005

(Richmond, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 7 , Richmond, is currently investigating the discovery of human remains found off Long Branch Road in the Red Lick area , at the Madison/Jackson County Line.The remains were discovered by a group of hunters at 1740 hours on 9/11/2005.

The remains are located in an area that is only accesible by an ATV. Dr. Emily Craig, State Forensic Anthropologist, is enroute to the scene to assist in the recovery of the remains. We are unable to determine at this time if the remains are male or female. Cause of death will be determined after examination by Dr. Craig at the State Medical Examiners Office.

KSP Detectives Mike Stotts and Monte Owens are the investigating officers. Trooper Chris Lanham, Post 7 Public Affairs Officer, will be located on Long Branch Road for any press inquiries.
