Owen County Couple Charged With The Murder And Assault Of Another Owen County Couple.

(Owenton, Kentucky) - On August 20, 2005 at 9:51pm Kentucky State Police 911 Dispatch Center received a call that there had been a shooting at 1305 Hide Away Hills in Owenton, KY. Approximately 3 minutes later (9:54pm) Kentucky State Police 911 Dispatch Center received another call advising that there was a one vehicle injury crash near the location of the shooting. Upon the arrival of emergency personnel at both scenes it was determined that the people involved in the crash were the suspects in the shooting.

Kentucky State Police detectives have charged Timothy L. Wagers, age 35 and his wife Sue E. Wagers, age 23 both from Owenton, Kentucky with the murder of Sue's mother, Nancy S. Johns, age 39 from Owenton, KY and assault 1st of Sue's father, Virgil R. Johns, age 40 from Owenton, KY. Detectives determined that Sue and Timothy Wagers entered the home of Nancy and Virgil Johns and after a brief argument Nancy and Virgil Johns were both shot by Sue and Timothy Wagers. While fleeing the scene Sue and Timothy Wagers crashed their vehicle injuring them both. Timothy was the driver and Sue was the passenger in the vehicle.

• Nancy Johns was transported to New Horizons Medical Center in Owenton, KY where she died.
• Virgil Johns was transported to the University Of Kentucky Medical Center by LifeNet for the gunshot wound he sustained.
• Sue Wagers was taken to New Horizons Medical Center for minor injuries she received in the vehicle crash. She was treated and then lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center
• Timothy Wagers was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with serious injuries he received in the vehicle crash.

An autopsy will be done on Nancy Johns tomorrow at the state medical examiners office in Frankfort, KY.

Assault 1st is a class B felony punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison.

Murder is a Capital offence punishable by 20 years to life or death.

More charges could be filed after the case has been presented to the Owen County Grand Jury.

Detective Brady Lineman is the lead investigator for the Kentucky State Police and was assisted by several other members of the Kentucky State Police, Owen County EMS and Owen County Coroner.
