Criminal Investigation in Elizabethtown, KY

Date of News Release: 07/18/2005

(Elizabethtown, KY) - Juvenile, 13, of Elizabethtown, KY, was arrested this date and charged with Assault 2nd after shooting his 15 year old brother with a BB gun causing him to have to obtain medical treatment at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

After receiving a complaint of two teenage boys, one riding a bicycle and the other walking down the road, carrying guns, Trooper Shacklette located two boys who had been left primarily unattended and discovered that the 15 year old had injuries from being shot. Social Services were called to remove the 15-year-old boy from the residence.

The mother, Paula Hazelip, 34 of Elizabethtown, KY was cited for two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.

The 13-year-old boy was lodged in the Hardin County Juvenile Facility.

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Sam Shacklette.
