Fatal Fire in Calloway County, KY

Date of News Release: 08/29/2005

(Calloway County, KY) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal fire that occurred on Russell Drive, in rural Calloway County, on August 29, 2005. KSP was called to investigate this fire and death in the early morning hours of August 29 2005 after the Calloway County Fire & Rescue Department discovered the body of Joe E. Story, 75, of Benton. The Calloway Co. Coroner Mike Garland pronounced Mr. Story dead at the scene. The fire is believed to have started prior to 11:30 PM on August 28, 2005 and it is also believed that Mr. Story was asleep at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is still undetermined. The State Fire Marshall's Office assisted state police at the scene. The investigation is continuing by KSP Arson Investigator Frank Gresham and Detective George Bell.
