A Doctor and Nurse Practitioner Arrested on Drug Charges

Date of News Release 03/24/05

(Columbia, KY) - After a two-year investigation by the Kentucky State Police and Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, Doctor Robert Shipp and Nurse Practitioner Rockie McDaniels were arrested today (3/24/05) on federal warrants. They were arrested by Det. Hammond with the Kentucky State Police and Federal Agents with the D.E.A. Both were turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshall Service and lodged in the Federal Courthouse in Louisville.

Rocky McDaniels was charged in Trafficking in a Controlled Substances Schedules II, III & IV.

Doctor Robert Shipp was charged with Conspiracy to Traffic in Controlled Substances II, III & IV.

Each faces up to 20 years incarceration in a federal correctional facility and 1 million dollars fine.

Some of the controlled substances were being distributed through the Family Medical Center without a legitimate purpose and outside the usual and customary medical practice.

Both are pending arraignment dates in federal court in Louisville.
