KSP Post 14 Investigating A Murder Which Occured on 10/28/05

The Kentucky State Police in Ashland, KY are investigating a Murder, which occurred on October 28, 2005

The Summit Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire located in a wooded area off of Wallace Drive in Summit, KY. (The vehicle was a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro) After extinguishing the fire, the members of the Fire Department discovered the remains of a burned body in the trunk of the vehicle. The Fire Department requested the Kentucky State Police respond to the scene. Detective Rob Shivel and other members of the agency responded to the scene and began a homicide and arson investigation.

The body was transported to the State Medical Examiners Office located in Frankfort, KY for an autopsy. Dr. Hunnsaker of the State Medical Examiners Office was able to make a positive identification of the victim by using dental records. The victim was found to be Robert Eric Sammons of Rush, KY (DOB:07-11-70).
