School Teacher From Harlan County Arrested

(HARLAN, KY) - After a continuing joint investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 10 Detective Doyle Halcomb and Social Services, enough information was obtained for an indictment of Michael Ashley age 38 of Totz, Kentucky.

Michael Ashley was indicted by the Harlan County Grand Jury for Rape 3rd Degree and Sodomy 3rd Degree of a juvenile victim. Rape 3rd degree is a class "D" felony that carries a sentence of up to five years in prison. Sodomy 3rd degree is also a class "D" felony that carries a sentence of up to five years in prison. Circuit Judge Ron Johnson issued a warrant for these charges and it was served by Kentucky State Police Post 10 Trooper Jason Young. Assisting Trooper Young was Trooper James Earl Hensley, Trooper Walt Meachum and Sergeant Damon Gayheart. Mr. Ashley was lodged in the Harlan County Jail with a $50,000.00 full cash bond.
