News Release

Murder Investigation in Knox County, KY

Date of News Release: 06/10/2005

(Harlan, KY.) - On 5/24/2005, Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan was notified of a possible murder in the area of Hinkle, Ky. After further investigation, the charred remains of David Messer, age 25 of Bimble, Ky. were discovered on Kay Jay Mountain.

Charged with the murder of David Messer is Larry Wayne Taylor, age 43 of Hinkle, Ky. Mr. Taylor was lodged in the Knox County Jail.

The body of David Messer has been sent to the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab in Frankfort, Ky for an autopsy.

Assisting at the scene was Emily Craig from the Medical Examiners Office, Knox County Deputy Coroner Jerry Wayne Garland, Trooper Kevin Miller, Trooper Jay Sowders, Trooper Dallas Eubanks, Trooper Kevin Knuckles, Trooper Gary Partin, Trooper Alfred Bunch, Trooper K.Y. Fuson and Detective Dee Hughes.

This case is still under investigation by Detective Clyde Wells Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan.
