>Bank Robbery Update - Man Died of Self Inflicted Wound

(LAKE CITY, KY.) - On December 16, 2004 an autopsy was conducted in Louisville, KY on Norman A. Springs, 39 of Salem, KY.
The Medical Examiner concluded Springs died of a single self-inflicted contact wound to the right temple. Springs, who was a suspect in the December 14th robbery of the BB&T Bank in Lake City, was stopped by troopers at the 17 mile-marker of I-24. Troopers fired on the vehicle after Springs was observed discharging a weapon from inside the vehicle. Springs was taken to Lourdes Hospital where McCracken County Coroner Dan Sims pronounced him dead at 5:30 PM.
Bobbie J Vaughn, 30 of Paducah, the driver of the vehicle, is currently being held in the McCracken County Jail on charges of Complicity to Robbery
1st Degree.
The investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police.
