Bracken County Child Pornography Arrest

(Brooksville, KY) - On February 24, 2004 the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, a part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, along with Post 6 Troopers and the Bracken County Sheriff's office executed a search warrant in the 400 block of Hackett Ridge Road in Bracken County.

The search warrant was obtained as the result of an investigation conducted by detectives of the Electronic Crime Branch on information they received concerning child pornography being viewed on the Internet. The initial complaint had come from Colorama, a rental store, in Maysville, KY when they discovered images of what appeared to be minors engaging in sexual activity that had been downloaded to a recently returned computer.

The computer was examined by Electronic Crime Branch detectives who were able to confirm the computer had been used to view illegal child pornography. The detectives were also able to identify the person who used the computer to view the pornography as Bradley Allen Smith (26) of Brooksville, KY.

A computer and several pieces of assorted storage media containing child pornography were found and seized at the Hackett Ridge residence. The suspect, Bradley Allen Smith, was arrested at the scene on warrants stemming from this investigation. Smith was charged with two (2) counts of Distributing Matter Portraying a Minor in a Sexual Act and lodged in the Mason County Detention Center.

Detective Jacqualine Rogers and Detective Bruce Olin, of the Electronic Crime Branch, are continuing the investigation.
