Results from a 4 Day Trial in Allen County

(Bowling Green, KY) - After a two year investigation and a four day trial, the death of Leslie Woodcock has been heard in Allen Circuit Court. On september 21, 2002, Woodcock was killed in a head on collision on KY 1533, Meador Port Oliver Road in Allen County. Woodcock was struck by a vehicle driven by John Allen Whitehead. In an unanimous decision by an Allen County jury, Whitehead was convicted of 5 criminal charges. 1) manslaughter 2nd, 2)possession of controlled substance 1st, methamphetamine 3) possession of controlled substance 3rd, alprazolam 4) possession of marijuana and 5) driving under the influence of drugs.
The Allen County jury recommended the following sentencing; charge one 7.5 years in jail. Charge two 5 years in jail and $10,000.00 fine. Charge three 12 months in jail and a $500.00 fine. Charge four 12 months in jail and $500.00 fine. Whitehead's final sentencing will be in September in Allen Circuit Court. Detective Forrest Winchester stated "the death of Leslie Woodcock was a senseless act that could be avoided." "This case and conviction is a clear example of the Kentucky State Police's resolve to prosecute drug impairment and motor vehicle collisions in the Bowling Green Post area."
