KSP Post 3 July 4th Holiday Enforcement

(Bowling Green, KY) - The July 4th Holiday is here and the Kentucky State Police at Post 3 in Bowling Green. Troopers will be on the interstates and secondary roads looking for the speeders, intoxicated drivers, and seat belt / child restraint violations.

Traffic checkpoints will be conducted throughout the eight counties in the Post 3 area. These counties are Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Simpson and Warren.

The purpose of the traffic checkpoints is to look for impaired drivers, license and registration, and equipment violations. The traffic checkpoints may be conducted during the daylight hours or at nighttime. The public should not experience more than a 3 to 4 minute delay in the travels. (Checkpoint locations that may be used are attached.)

To date in 2004 there have been 36 fatalities in the Post 3 area, compared to 24 in 2003.
