Death Investigation in Trigg County

(Cadiz, KY) - Detectives with the Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of a 73-year-old Trigg County woman. On 4-5-04 at 10:13 P.M. Trigg County emergency dispatch received a call of a house fire on Princeton Road, 2 miles North of Cadiz. Fire Departments from Montgomery and Caledonia arrived and found the home of Margarete Holton on fire. Firefighters pulled Holton from the home and Trigg County EMS transported her to the Trigg County Hospital. Holton was pronounced dead at 10:49 P.M of smoke inhalation. It appears from the preliminary investigation that the fire started near the furnace. The Trigg County Sheriff's Department, EMS and Coroner, along with the Fire Departments from Montgomery and Caledonia assisted Kentucky State Police at the scene. The investigation is continuing by Detectives Michelle Kent and Richard Wright.
