Felony Arrest in Greenup County in Connection with a Scam

Date of News Release: 10/28/2004

(Ashland, KY) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland arrested Timothy Eller & Kelly Eitel in connection with a recent scam operation the two suspects were involved in.

Eller was arrested over a month ago in Columbus, OH on unrelated charges and was extradited back to Kentucky yesterday. Eitel was arrested yesterday by the Kentucky State Police in Morehead while at the Fleming County Sheriff's office in Flemingsburg, KY.

Both suspects are facing the same charges. The two suspects were charged in connection with two separate incidents involving thefts from inside the victim's residence. According to authorities, the two suspects offered to clean the vinyl siding of the victim's residence. The suspects would make an excuse in order to obtain entry inside the victim's house. Once inside, the suspects would steal valuables from the victim. The suspects targeted the elderly and operated mainly in the northern part of Greenup County.

The Kentucky Stae Police are asking any resident who may have been a victim of this scam, to contact the Kentucky State Police at 606-928-6421 or 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state).

Trooper Chris Yavorcik is the investigating officer.
