Death Investigation Update on Press Release to Death of Dean Carter
Date of News Release: 9/2/2004
(Ashland, Ky.) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland is continuing the investigation into the death of Dean Carter of Olive Hill, Ky. Preliminary autopsy indicates the victim suffered from a gunshot wound from a small caliber weapon as well as injuries suffered from the fire. The order of injuries has not been determined as of this time. Drugs are being looked at as a possible motive in the slaying. The victim was discovered on the front porch of his mobile home after fire-fighters extinguised the blaze. There are indications of the use of an accelerent on the body of the deceased. At this time KSP authorities do have suspects in the case and are actively investigating the case.
The case remains under investigation by Detective Russ Fannin and Detective Rodney Carroll.
