Kentucky State Police Post 1 Asks for Public
Assistance to Catch Marijuana Growers

(Mayfield, KY) - The Kentucky State Police at the Mayfield Post are asking area residents to help identify the locations and persons growing marijuana.

KSP is looking for information on those people growing marijuana indoors and outdoors.

Police are asking landowners to be aware of possible marijuana growing operations activity on their land.

They should watch for worn trails that lead to roads, trails leading to sources of water, trails in wooded areas and trails that show constant wear or just seem out of place, police said.

According to KSP, many of the marijuana growers operate at night.

Police are warning landowners to watch for persons trespassing at night by listening for the sound of machinery - four-wheelers, tillers, mowers and chainsaws - being used at night.

They should also be aware of lights coming from areas that are not normally lighted and vehicles parked in odd places, police said.

Landowners should also be aware of trash showing up in unusual places.

Should you suspect possible illegal activity on your land you can contact the Kentucky State Police Mayfield Post at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state), (270) 856-3721 or (270) 575-7228.
