Press Conference on Death and Fire
Investigation of Scot Michael May
(Frankfort, KY) - Victim Scot Michael May was found dead on Monday June 2, 2003 in the Bellefonte Estates in Simpsonville, KY. (Shelby Co).
The Kentucky State Police investigation has determined that Mr. May arrived for work at the Simpsonville Post Office at 05:40 hours on June 2, 2003. At 06:00 hours a postal employee delivering mail to the Post Office found the parking lot empty and the Post Office unoccupied.
At 08:22 hours June 2, 2003 Mr. May's vehicle was found damaged by fire with Mr. May's body in the rear seat. The fire had gone undiscovered and had self-extinguished.
After an extensive and lengthy investigation, no evidence of foul play was determined.
The cause of death was determined by the Medical Examiner as being smoke inhalation and acute carbon monoxide toxicity (charred remains).
We will continue to examine and evaluate any new leads or information that become available.
