Three Die On Kentucky Roadways Last Week (Feb. 11 through Feb. 17)

(Frankfort, KY) -- Preliminary statistics* indicate that three people died in three separate crashes on Kentucky's roadways from Monday, Feb. 11 through Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013.
One single-fatality, motor vehicle crash occurred in each of the following counties: Floyd, Hopkins and Jefferson. The victims in Floyd and Jefferson counties were not wearing seat belts. The crash in Hopkins County involved the suspected use of alcohol.
Through Feb. 17, preliminary statistics* indicate that 57 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2013. This is 32 less than reported for this time period in 2012. Of the 48 motor vehicle fatalities, 27 victims were not wearing seat belts. One of the two motorcycle fatalities was not wearing a helmet. Six pedestrians have been killed. One fatality involving an animal drawn vehicle has been reported. A total of 12 fatalities have resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.
As of Feb. 17, Kentucky has had 16 days with zero highway fatalities reported during 2013.
