Commercial Vehicle Crash / Hazmat Spill in Pulaski County

Date of News Release: 01/30/2014

(Sloan Valley, KY) - On Thursday January 30th 2014 around 05:00 A.M. officer Duffy Sutton with the Kentucky State Police-Vehicle Enforcement responded to serious traffic crash involving a commercial vehicle cargo tanker located near the 2 mile marker on US27 in the Sloan Valley community of Pulaski County.

Upon arrival and through investigation Officer Sutton determined 24 year old Lucas Gregory of Whitley City was operating a 2012 Peterbilt loaded with gasoline when he left the roadway overturning spilling thousands of gallons of fuel over an embankment.

Mr. Gregory was airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where his condition is not known. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors and Mr. Gregory was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.

Both north and southbound lanes of US27 are expected to be closed for approximately 4-6 hours. Traffic is being rerouted to KY90 if traveling south and KY92 if traveling north.

Pulaski Co Sheriffs Office, Tateville Fire Department, Parkers Mill Fire Department, Burnside Fire Department, State Fire Marshall office, Pulaski Co Rescue squad, Pulaski Co Hazmat 12, Environmental Protection Agency, Pulaski Co Emergency Mgn. and Kentucky State Highway Department.
