One Killed in a Collision at the intersection of US23 and KY321

(PAINTSVILLE, KY) - On Wednesday September 11, 2013, Kentucky State Police Post 09, Pikeville, received a 911 call of a two vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a commerical vehicle. The injury accident occurred at the intersection of US23 and KY321, in the Paintsville community of Johnson County.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Ruth A. Davis was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer when she attempted to turn left onto US 23, southbound. Davis alledgedly pulled into the path of a 1997 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Mr. Dayne Pitts. The two vehicles came to final rest in the northbound lanes of US23. Davis was pronounced deceased at the scene by Johnson County Coroner, J. R. Frisby.
The collision remands under investigation by Kentucky State Police Officer Tommy Gearheart.
KSP Officer Tommy Gearheart, KSP Officer Jason Caudill, KSP Lt. Jamie Collins and KSP Sgt. Gary Lafferty were assisted at the scene by the Johnson County Sheriff's Department, Paintsville Fire Department, W.R. Castle Fire Department, Rockhouse Fire Department and Paintsville EMS.
