Stolen CMV Leads To More

Date of News Release: 04/15/2013

(MARTIN, KY) -- On Saturday April 13, 2013, Kentucky State Police, Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers received a complaint of the possible location of a stolen coal truck on KY1210 in the Caney Fork community of Martin, in Floyd County.

Preliminary investigation reveals when KSP Officers arrived at the reported location of the alleged stolen truck, officers spoke with a witness who stated that the 1996 Red Mack was going to be located on a hill above Hamilton Creek Road, just off of highway on KY1210. Officers witnessed a Red Mack Coal Truck just off of roadway that matched the description that the owner gave. The registration plate revealed that the commercial truck belonged to the registered owner who had reported it stolen. Through further investigation, Officers located four doors, hood and a trunk lid to a Lincoln Navigator that was reported stolen out of Prestonsburg, a 1975 Chevy Log truck, which was also stolen out of Prestonsburg, the title of a 1996 GMC Jimmy that was stolen out of Martin County and a 2007 Jeep Liberty stolen out of Prestonsburg. One arrest has been made at this time.

KSP Officer Hutchinson was assisted on scene by Ofcr. J. Caudill, Ofcr. M. Wallace and Sgt. Justice, all of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. Additionally assisting were Tpr. C. Royal and Martin Police Department Ofcr. Justin Cooley.

This case remains under investigation by Officer Dennis Hutchinson, Kentucky State Police, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
