Injury Collision Involving a KSP-CVE Officer

(Bimble, KY) - On Sunday September 15th 2013 around 8:24 PM officers with KSP-Vehicle Enforcement were called to investigate an officer involved injury accident located on US25E (South) at the intersection of KY1304 in Knox County Kentucky.
Officer Wendell Hunter was traveling south on US25E operating a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria when he collided with a 2002 Ford Tarus operated by 30 year old Ricky C. Simpson of Flat Lick Kentucky.
Both Hunter and Simpson were transported to area hospitals were they were being treated for minor injuries and expected to be released.
Sections of US25E were shut down and re-routed for around three hours while officers reconstructed and investigated the crash.
Assisting on scene: Kentucky State Police, Barbourville Police, Knox Co Sheriff, Knox Co EMS, Barbourville Fire Department, East Knox Fire. Sgt. Mike Taylor continues the investigation.
