KSP Helps With 2013 KY Truck Driving Championships

Date of News Release: 05/20/2013

Louisville, KY. (May 18, 2013) On Saturday the Kentucky State Police along with Louisville Metro Police and Boone County Sheriff's Office helped judge the annual Kentucky Motor Transport Association Truck Driving Championships which were hosted at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Every year professional truck drivers from all over the state converge on Louisville for a two day competition to see who the best of the best is. This year over 70 drivers representing more than 10 top companies competed.

"This is bragging rights for not only the driver that wins but also for the company he represents" said David Guess KMTA State Safety Council Chairman. Mr. Guess also stated that the KMTA and the companies interest go beyond the industry and is not just about pulling freight. The drivers that are free of accidents and free of any bad write ups for one year earn the right to compete.

Mr. Guess has been in charge of coordinating the event for the past 17 years. He said it is good to see more new drivers and companies every year competing and sponsoring the event, because it goes to show everyone that safety on the road is a top priority. Mr. Guess added that Kentucky is the only state to use 100% law enforcement to judge the competition. This also goes to show the professional relationship that the industry has with law enforcement in the state of Kentucky.
