Two killed in Greenup County vehicle collision

(Morehead, Ky.) -- On June 29th at approximately 1:50 am the Kentucky State Police Post 14, Ashland received a report of two commercial vehicles that had crashed on the Industrial Parkway and were on fire. Wesley A. Walker of Olive Hill, Kentucky was traveling north on KY 67 'Industrial Parkway' in Greenup County approximately 1 mile south of the US 23 intersection when he lost control of his 2000 Freightliner in a curve resulting in the vehicle overturning and sliding into the southbound lane colliding with a 2012 International operated by Lenden F. Ferrell of Vanceburg, Kentucky. Upon impact Mr. Walker's tractor separated from the flatbed trailer that was loaded with crushed vehicles. Mr. Walker was ejected and his vehicle came to rest off the northbound shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Ferrell's vehicle caught fire after impact and remained in the southbound lane. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Greenup County Coroner. Trooper Jack Hedges from Post 14 Ashland conducted the preliminary collision investigation with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Larry Farris from Post 8 conducting a reconstruction. KY 67 was shut down from 1:50 am till late in the afternoon. Assisting at the scene were Troopers from both Post 14 Ashland and Post 8 Morehead along with the Greenup and Rowan County Coroners office.
