Fatal Traffic Crash in Clay County
Date of News Release: 03/12/2010
(London, Ky.) -- On Thursday, March 11, 2010, at approximately 8:00 PM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London received a report of a traffic crash on KY 11 in Clay County.
Upon arrival KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Greg Reams determined that a green, 1995, GMC, pick-up, operated by Ronnie G. Hacker, 33, of McKee, was traveling southbound on KY 11 when it crossed the centerline into the path of a gold, 2006, Toyota, Camry, operated by Elizabeth M. Denman, 31, of Big Creek. The two vehicles hit head-on.
Mr. Hacker, Ms. Denman and a passenger in the Mr. Hacker's vehicle were ejected from the vehicles. Mr. Hacker and Ms. Denman both received fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Clay County Coroner's Office.
Bill R. Henson, 30, of Manchester, a passenger in the Mr. Hacker's vehicle was flown from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington for treatment of his injuries.
Seat belts were not in use.
Alcohol involvement is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.
KSP-CVE Officer Reams is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by the officers from the Kentucky State Police, the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Clay County Sheriff's Office, the Clay County Coroner's Office, the Burning Springs Fire Department and the Clay County EMS.
