Through February 25, 2013, preliminary statistics* indicate that 746 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2012. This twenty-six (25) more than was reported for the same time period in 2011. In the Post Four there has been one hundred and one (101) motor vehicle fatalities and fifty-one (51) victims were not wearing seat belts and thirty-six (36) victims were wearing seat belt, one (1) victim was in a child restraint, one (1) victim seatbelt was N/A and twelve (12) victims seat belt was unknown. Eleven (11) crashes involved a motorcycle and two (2) victims were not wearing a helmet, seven (7) victims were wearing a helmet and two (2) victims helmet was unknown. Eleven (11) crashes involved a pedestrian. Three (3) crashes involved an bicycle. Twenty-seven (27) deaths has resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.
