Through February 25, 2013, preliminary statistics* indicate that 746 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2012. This twenty-six (25) more than was reported for the same time period in 2011. In the Post Eleven there has been sixty-one (61) motor vehicle fatalities and thirty-four (34) victims were not wearing a seat belts and twenty-five (25) victims were wearing a seat belt and two (2) victims seat belt was unknown. Five (5) crashes involved a motorcycle and three (3) victims were not wearing a helmet and two (2) victims were wearing a helmet. Two (2) crashes involved a pedestrian. Twelve (12) deaths has resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol.
