Knott County Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash
KSP Post 13 is investigating

MALLIE, KY.(January 19, 2018) – A single vehicle crash claimed the life of a Knott County man this morning. First responders were called to the reported collision just before 7:00 a.m., on KY 160 near the junction of Highway 899 in the Mallie community. Trooper Robbie Dials responded to the scene, along with Trans Star Ambulance and Ball Creek Rescue Squad.

The initial investigation of this crash determined that Kelly Pigman, age 48 of Litt Carr, was traveling north on KY 160 when he lost control of his 2006 Ford pickup. The truck crossed the center line and southbound lane before going off the left shoulder, where it collided with a concrete bridge and came to rest. Kelly Pigman was pronounced deceased at the scene by Knott County Coroner Jeff Blair. There were no other occupants in the truck.

Mr. Pigman was not wearing a seat belt, and no autopsy will be performed. Contributing factors have yet to be determined, though impairment isn’t being considered at this time. This incident remains under investigation by Tpr. Robbie Dials with KSP Post 13.
