KSP Investigates Fatal Collision in Pike County

PHELPS, KY(May 31, 2017) Kentucky State Police, Pikeville Post, is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Pike County.

The collision occurred during the evening hours of Tuesday, May 30, 2017. The preliminary investigation indicated that a 1990 Ford Ranger was traveling westbound on State Highway 194 E when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a metal pole before overturning. The passenger, George Gooslin, 63 of McCarr, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pike County Deputy Coroner Ernie Casebolt. Evidence at the scene indicated Gooslin was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. The operator of the vehicle fled the scene on foot and could not be located.

The collision remains under investigation by Post 9 Collision Reconstructionist, Detective Jason Merlo.
