Robbery Suspect in Custody

CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (June 7, 2017) – The suspect of the Cowboy’s gas station robbery on May 31st in Ghent, KY has been apprehended.

Billy Sangster was apprehended yesterday June 6, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m. in Knox County Tennessee. Sangster was arrested by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office just outside Knoxville Tennessee in a truck stop parking lot. Information obtained by Kentucky State Police provided the Knox County Sheriff’s Office with a location for Sangster. Sangster was found at the truck stop in a stolen dump truck from Indiana. Sangster was arrested for his Kentucky offense of Robbery 1st degree. Additional charges in Kentucky and other states are pending at this time.

Assisting Kentucky State Police in the investigation along with the Knox County Sheriff’s Officer were; the US Marshal’s Service in Louisville and the DEA task force in Tennessee. Sangster is awaiting extradition to Kentucky at which time he will be arraigned and await any future court dates.
