Two Arrested For Cultivation and Trafficking in Marijuana Drugs and Nearly $15,000 in Cash Seized

Campbellsburg, Ky. (January 3, 2017) – On Friday December 30, 2016, Troopers with the Kentucky State Police at Post 5 Campbellsburg made two drug seizures on Mulberry Street in Louisville.
A cannabis suppression investigation in Louisville by State Troopers with Post 5 lead to two separate residences on Mulberry Street and the seizure of money, drugs, guns, and drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. Troopers made contact with Shane Thompson, 47 of Louisville, in regards to a cannabis suppression investigation. Thompson was cooperative with Troopers and consented to a search of his residence. The search resulted in the seizure of 10 ounces of processed marijuana, 4 marijuana plants, 2 handguns, 1 rifle, 1 shotgun, marijuana grow lights, a CO2 tank, and other items used in the cultivation and trafficking of marijuana.
During the course of the investigation involving Thompson, Troopers discovered clues that led them to another residence on Mulberry Street. At the second residence Troopers made contact with Damian Gerlach, 36 of Louisville. Gerlach cooperated with Troopers and consented to a search of his residence. During the search, Troopers found 8 marijuana plants in an indoor grow operation. Gerlach also had more than 8 ounces of processed marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms, approximately $14,957.00 in cash, and other items used in the trafficking and cultivation of marijuana.
Thompson was charged with trafficking in marijuana less than 5 pounds 1st offense and cultivation of marijuana less than 5 plants. Gerlach was charged with cultivation of marijuana 5 plants or more 1st offense, trafficking in marijuana less than 5 pounds 1st offense, and possession of controlled substance 2nd degree hallucinogen. Thompson and Gerlach both have a pending court date in Jefferson County District Court. Evidence seized was sent to the Kentucky State Police laboratory for testing and the investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg.
