Kentucky State Police Investigating Stabbing in New Castle

New Castle, KY (January 5, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police at Post 5 Campbellsburg is investigating a stabbing in Henry County on LaGrange road.
At approximately 6:30 pm Wednesday January 4th, Kentucky State Police in Campbellsburg received a call from a residence on LaGrange road outside New Castle Kentucky. It was reported that Emmet Pendleton, 55 of New Castle, had been stabbed and the suspect had fled the scene.
Pendleton was transported by helicopter to the University of Louisville hospital where he was treated and released. Troopers with Post 5 Campbellsburg and Officers with Oldham County Police attempted to locate the suspect, Richard Jackson 45 of Louisville, in a black pickup truck he was alleged to have fled the scene in.
A BOLO was issued by State Police for Jackson and his vehicle. At approximately 8:45 p.m. Kentucky State Police was notified that Jackson had been apprehended after an altercation with Officers in Crawford County Indiana.
Thompson was charged with trafficking in marijuana less than 5 pounds 1st offense and cultivation of marijuana less than 5 plants. Gerlach was charged with cultivation of marijuana 5 plants or more 1st offense, trafficking in marijuana less than 5 pounds 1st offense, and possession of controlled substance 2nd degree hallucinogen. Thompson and Gerlach both have a pending court date in Jefferson County District Court. Evidence seized was sent to the Kentucky State Police laboratory for testing and the investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg.
Kentucky State Police is continuing the investigation of the stabbing in New Castle Kentucky and Indiana State Police is continuing the investigation into the altercation with Officers in Indiana.
