Three Vehicle Non-injury Collision (Muhlenberg County)

Central City, Ky. (December 27, 2017) – At approximately 6:13 A.M. the Kentucky State Police investigated a three vehicle collision at the 61 mile marker of the Western Kentucky Parkway.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Brooks Bowling, 24, of Louisville, KY was operating a 2018 International box truck westbound on the Western Kentucky Parkway. For an unknown reason Bowling’s vehicle struck a 2000 Chevrolet pickup which had been abandoned in the emergency lane. Bowling’s vehicle then overturned onto its side blocking both westbound lanes. Charles Wood, 65, of Floydsknob, IN was operating a 2013 Freightliner Tractor Trailer westbound on the Western KY Parkway. Wood was unable to avoid the collision and struck Bowling’s vehicle. Wood’s vehicle came to final rest in the westbound lanes. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

Bowling’s vehicle was loaded with alcohol and Woods vehicle was loaded with Oxidizer.

The collision was investigated by Trooper Matt Jordan. Trooper Jordan was assisted on scene by Officer John Sweeney with KSP Vehicle Enforcement, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, Ohio County Sheriff’s Department and Central City Fire Department.
