KSP Investigate Robbery at a Hanson Convenience Store

UPDATE: Detective Jonathon Murphy has located and charged Tyler Morris Gray, 19, Evansville, IN with Robbery 2nd Degree in connection with the robbery at the Ideal Mart in Hanson. Gray is currently lodged in the Butler County Jail.

Hanson, Ky.. (September 5, 2017) – Detectives from Kentucky State Police Post 2 are currently investigating a robbery that occurred at 260 Veterans Lane in Hanson at the Ideal Mart.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., an unknown white male entered the store and told the clerk he needed to charge his cell phone. The suspect utilized an electrical outlet by the front door for approximately 2 hours before purchasing a soft drink. As the clerk opened the cash register to give the suspect change, the suspect quickly reached over the counter grabbing money from the open register. The suspect then handed the clerk a note stating that if he did not give him cash and cigarettes, he would kill the clerk.

A struggle ensued and the unknown male was able to run out of the store with an undetermined amount of money. No one was injured during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing by Detective Jon Murphy. Details will be released as more information becomes available.
