KSP Investigate Single Vehicle Injury Accident on State Route 70 East

Drakesboro, KY( May 17, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle collision that occurred on ST RT 70 East, on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 01:32 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that Ronald Tomes, 41, of Bowling Green was operating a 2013 Chevrolet pickup westbound on ST RT 70 East, when the vehicle exited the right side of the roadway. Mr. Tome’s vehicle struck a concrete culvert. The vehicle continued westbound where it then struck a flag pole in the front yard of a residence. Mr. Tome’s vehicle then crossed the roadway where it struck a earth embankment. The vehicle continued off the roadway where it then struck the residence at 1900 ST RT 70 E. Mr. Tomes was wearing his seatbelt. He was transported to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment to his injuries. Mr. Tomes was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs (Aggravated Circumstance) 1st offense.
Trooper Jacob Fortney investigated the collision. The Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, Beechmont Fire Department and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
