(Update 3) Kentucky State Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting

MAYFIELD, Ky.(August 31, 2017) – On August 30, Andrew Chamberlain was released from Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. KSP had obtained a warrant for Chamberlain as a result of the ongoing investigation. KSP and local law enforcement began efforts to locate Chamberlain upon his release from the hospital. On August 31st, Mayfield Police Department took Chamberlain into custody.

Andrew R. Chamberlain has been charged with First Degree Wanton Endangerment of Police Officer (Class D Felony), Falsely Reporting an Incident (Class A Misdemeanor), and Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor). He has been lodged in the Graves County Jail.

The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team. (Update 2) Kentucky State Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting

MAYFIELD, Ky.(August 22, 2017) – The officer involved in the August 18th shooting is Lieutenant Daniel Crofoot. Lt. Crofoot is a 16 year veteran of Mayfield Police Department and remains on paid administrative leave pending the KSP investigation of this matter.

The suspect, Andrew Chamberlain, remains at Deaconess Hospital in stable condition.

MAYFIELD, Ky.(August 18, 2017) – The suspect is Andrew R. Chamberlain, a white male, age 23, of Hickory, Kentucky. He is in stable condition at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Trooper Aaron Jestes responded and located the children along with the caller, who had assisted in moving the children to a safe place out of the roadway. The children were 2 and 4 years old and were unharmed. Shortly thereafter, Trooper Jestes located Hannah Taber asleep inside a nearby residence. Preliminary investigation has shown Ms.Taber was responsible for the children but was unaware of their location. It was also confirmed a similar incident had occurred involving the same children in the recent past.

Kentucky State Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting

MAYFIELD, Ky.(August 18, 2017) – Kentucky State Police are on scene of an officer involved shooting in Mayfield, Kentucky. At 3:00 a.m. KSP Post 1 dispatch received a report of an armed man walking in the 200 block of West Lee Street. Officers from the Mayfield Police Department responded to the area and located a man in a nearby yard believed to be the reported armed person.

Shortly thereafter, shots were fired and the suspect was hit. The suspect was taken by Mayfield-Graves EMS to Jackson Purchase Medical Center. He was then flown by Air Evac to another hospital for continued treatment.

The Kentucky State Police have secured the scene and activated their Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).

More information concerning the identity and condition of the suspect, along with the identity of the involved officer(s) will be released as the investigation continues.
