Kentucky State Police Investigating Officer Struck by Vehicle

CADIZ, KY (April 17, 2017) – Kentucky State Police Post 1 responded to Main Street in front of Trigg County High School on April 17 at 3:38 p.m. for reports of a Cadiz Police Officer being struck by a vehicle.
Preliminary investigation has shown George A. Hicks, age 72, of Cadiz, Kentucky was operating a 2004 Chevrolet van eastbound on Main Street approaching the entrance to Trigg County Hospital when he struck David Colbert, a Cadiz Police Officer who was directing school traffic. Colbert was taken by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Heavy rain and decreased visibility are believed to be factors in the collision. KSP does not anticipate any criminal charges from this collision investigation.
KSP was assisted on scene by Cadiz Police Department, Trigg County Sheriff Department, Trigg County Rescue, and Trigg County Ambulance Service.
