OWENSBORO, KY. (April 9, 2017) – Kentucky State Police was dispatched to the Daviess County Detention Center in reference to an inmate that had died while in their custody. James J. Lester, 39, of Owensboro had been brought in earlier on 04/09/2017 after being arrested by Owensboro Police Department for Public Intoxication. Approximately three hours after being brought into the Detention Center Mr. Joseph became ill and emergency personnel were dispatched to the Detention Center. Mr. Joseph was then transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The investigation in on-going by Sgt Jonathon Whittaker.
