Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon

Hawesville, KY (January 21, 2017) – Kentucky State Police responded to 3046 Truman Young road in Hawesville for a welfare check. Troopers were advised that a Mr. Allan Powers resides at this residence with 3 young children whom he has custody of, and there were reported to be firearms inside the residence even though Mr. Powers is a convicted felon. Upon Troopers arrival at the residence, Mr. Powers was found to be in possession of 4 shotguns, 4 rifles, and 3 handguns. Mr. Powers was arrested on 7 counts of Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, and 3 counts of Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon. Mr. Powers was lodged at Hancock County Jail.
Troopers are continuing the investigation along with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife for possible additional charges.
