Breathitt County Man Killed in Single Car Collision

Whick, Ky. (September 15, 2017) – A Breathitt County man died late Thursday evening after the car he was driving collided with a tree. Dispatchers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call advising of the single vehicle collision, just after 9:00 p.m. First responders were directed to the scene on HWY 1110 in the Whick community of Breathitt County. Troopers Josh Neace and Mike Wolfe responded to the crash site, with assistance from Jackson Fire and Rescue, Wolfcoal and Watts-Caney Fire Departments and Arrowmed Ambulance Service.

The initial investigation into this crash determined that David Roberts, age 56 of Lost Creek, was traveling west on KY 1110 when he lost control of the car he was operating. The vehicle, a 1990 Mercedes-Benz, crossed the eastbound lane and continued off the roadway, where it collided with a tree and came to rest. David Roberts was pronounced deceased at the scene by Breathitt County coroner George Griffith.
