Perry County Man Shot During Argument -KSP Post 13 is investigating

Combs, Ky. (April 27, 2017) – An argument between two men turned violent yesterday, leaving one man recovering from gunshot wounds. Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard responded to a fight complaint on Elm Shoal Branch Road, in the Combs community of Perry County at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calls to Perry County 911 Center advised that a man had been shot. Perry County Sheriff’s Deputies and Perry County Ambulance Authority also responded to the scene to provide assistance.
It was initially determined by investigators that Chester Jones and Mark Taylor had been involved in an argument. During the altercation, Chester Jones produced a firearm and shot Mark Taylor two times, before leaving the scene in his vehicle. Mark Taylor, age 41 of Combs, was transported to the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Chester Jones, 67 of Hazard, turned himself in to Troopers at KSP Post 13.
Chester Jones was arrested and charged with one count of Assault 2nd Degree, and was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail. This incident remain under investigation by Trooper Daniel Smoot with KSP Post 13.
