UPDATE: Kentucky State Police Investigates an Officer Involved Shooting

Versailles, Ky. (December 29, 2017) – The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has charged Clarence C. Murrell, age 51, of Sadieville Ky. after his involvement in the Officer Involved Shooting yesterday morning in Woodford County the charges are as follows:

  • No Registration Plates
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree
  • Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree, Police Officer, (5 counts)
  • Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree
  • Attempted Murder-Police Officer, (2 Counts)
  • Reckless Driving

Versailles, Ky. (December 28, 2017) – A Deputy from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department was involved in an Officer related shooting occurring at Pisgah Pike in Woodford County.

At approximately 7:30am Thursday, December 28, Scott County Deputies responded to a call of a vehicle collision near the Midway exit on I-64. The caller told Dispatch a black Ford F-150 left the scene. Deputies located the Ford truck on Ironworks Road in Scott County. Scott County Deputies initiated a pursuit when a Black Ford F-150 failed to stop. The impending pursuit went across three counties. Preliminary investigations reveal at the end of the pursuit Scott County Deputies confronted the male subject inside the truck. During the course of that confrontation, a Scott County Deputy discharged his firearm striking the driver of the truck.

The driver of the truck was treated at the scene by Woodford County EMS and transported to University of Kentucky Hospital where he is in serious condition.

The Officer involved has worked for Scott County Sheriff’s Department for five and a half years. The Deputy has been placed on administrative leave per department policy.

The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team and Kentucky State Police Post 12 Detectives. The Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by the Woodford County Sheriff’s Department.
