Update: KSP Investigates Human Remains Found in Martin County

PIKEVILLE, KY (October 03, 2016) - Human remains found in a wooded area in the Milo Community of Martin County, KY on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, have been identified as 37-year-old William Scott Fannin. Family members reported Fannin missing in December 2015. Fannin was identified today by the State Medical Examiner's Office, and additional testing will be performed in an attempt to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

KSP Investigates Human Remains Found in Martin County

Date of News Release: 09/27/2016

MILO, KY (September 28, 2016) - In the morning hours of Tuesday, September 27, 2016, Post 9 Pikeville was contacted by Martin County Sheriff's Office requesting assistance with a Death Investigation.

Detectives from Post 09 responded to the scene and determined that remains were located in a wooded area in the Milo community of Martin County. The remains were identified as human.

The initial investigation at the scene did not reveal the person's identity or gender.

The remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office. Additional information concerning this case will be released as information becomes available.

This incident remains under investigation by KSP Detective Jason Dials.
