Motorcycle Collision in Morgan County

West Liberty, Ky. (June 11th, 2016) - At 6:47 P.M. Kentucky State Police Post 8 received a report of an injury collision on KY 205 in the Grassy Creek Community of Morgan County. Trooper Aaron W. Brown responded to the scene.

It was determined that Gregory C. Weddington, 61, of Grassy Creek, and passenger Barbara L. Weddington,56, also of Grassy Creek were riding a 1997 Harley Davidson Motorcycle and were traveling south on KY 205 when a deer ran into the path of the vehicle. After the collision Mr. Weddington tried to maintain control of the vehicle but was unable to do so. The vehicle crossed the centerline into the North bound lane of travel and continued through it and off the shoulder of the roadway. As the vehicle traveled through the ditch it ejected Barbara Weddington and she came to final rest in the ditch. Mr. Weddington stayed on the vehicle until it hit and earth embankment and went airborne. Once airborne, Mr. Weddington was ejected from the vehicle. He came to final rest near the vehicle on the opposite side of the culvert from his wife.

Both subjects were airlifted from the scene and taken to Pikeville Medical Center. Both were listed in Stable condition after arrival. Neither occupant were wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Brown.
